    1. Haha, doing any physical activity at altitude is TOUGH. I knew there would be mountains at the end, so that will always get me going! I so badly wanted to bring home Carbon!

  1. How do you get such amazing pictures! I find myself looking for your blog posts in my in box so I can bask in the beauty of the places you visit. A life changing trip for sure – for you and for me.

    1. Thank you so much, Diane! I take amazing pictures, because I take pictures every day! My photo abilities and editing skills have improved so much since starting this journey, and the improvement comes with the frequent practice.

  2. Beautiful photos Jen. Sounds like a cool trip. Very cool. Dogs and all. What is pack for ultra light?

BTW: This is the first time I read any of your blog post. This will not be last. My wife and I have never cycled before. She is scared of cars passing by – but for some or other reason she seems hooked and reading up on self supported bicycle touring.

    Have fun

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words, Johan! I’m so glad you’re enjoying our blog. By pack for ultra light, I mean ditch the camp kitchen, most of my clothes and just bring the essentials (camping gear, puffy coat, toiletries, etc.).

Regarding your wife, passing cars can definitely be terrifying. Perhaps take her on some bike paths and get her started that way, then ease in the cars. Large cities are rarely fun to cycle in and give me panic attacks!

  3. Rainbow Mountain is a lovely name for a place. It’s great that you feel that its beauty was earned. The landscape you captured in the photos is stunning. It’s a shame that bus got lost on the way so it’s a relief that you were able to get on the right path.

    1. I don’t know of any specific guides, but it’s Peru. Most probably won’t care. Besides, village dogs often joined us hiking, so it’s not all that uncommon for a dog to join the trek!
